This is one of the most important works of my career and a turning point in my return to oil painting in 2014, after having worked for more than a decade with acrylic, gouache and watercolour. 

This portrait of Leyre, my partner, is undoubtedly an achievement both in terms of image composition and technique. It is a reflection of what aesthetics scholars used to say; that beauty is a balance between harmony and contrast.

Beautiful, elegant and suggestive as a black tulip, this painting subtly unfolds the winding paths of light and contrasts. On the one hand, the main light, which comes mainly from the right and, although we cannot see it, its tone and intensity make it seem to come from a window. On the other hand, a more intimate and warm light that comes from a candle.

Defective or damaged
products

If you receive a defective or damaged print or errors in the number or quantity
of the delivered products, or lack of quality of the delivered product, please contact
me at miquel.cazanya@gmail.com within 30 days. We will cover the costs of the new order.

Lost Orders Policy

For packages lost in transit, please get in touch with me (miquel.cazanya@gmail.com) within 30 days from the estimated delivery date. Gelato will send you a replacement order on your behalf.

Return Policy
Returned by Customer

We currently don't support returns because the products you order are personalized and made specifically for each order. Should you want to submit a new order, you will be liable for the costs of the new order. 

Returned to Sender Policy

For these cases, please place a new order and get in touch with me (miquel.cazanya@gmail.com) so that Gelato can report the problem and arrange for the product price to be refunded for the new order. This way, you will only pay again for the shipping of the order. 

Wrong Address

If you provide an address considered insufficient by the courier, the shipment
will be returned and disposed of safely. Should you want to submit a new order with an updated address, you will
be liable for the costs of the new order.

Unclaimed

If you are not able to receive your order at the address, the shipments may be available for pick up at your local post office or carrier pick up point.
Shipments that go unclaimed may be returned to the sender.

For these cases, please place a new order and get in touch with us so that we can report the problem and arrange for the product price to be refunded for the new order (you will still have to pay for the shipping costs).

Why is it Unique?

  • Formal beauty

    There are few portraits that are so pleasing to look at again and again and in which we can continue to recreate and discover the beauty of the forms. Not of the person portrayed, but of what the image in general suggests. What is not a superficial selfie is very poor in terms of composition.

  • The composition

    There are quite a few elements in this painting and they are all well combined. It is a communion of organic and geometric forms that are in constant dialogue, forming part of a soft and perfect dance, moving away from or towards us thanks to a multitude of pictorial effects.

  • The volume achieved

    There are some portraits in which we can see the volume of each form of the person portrayed and of the elements that appear in the composition. Here, thanks to the specific work of the light, and also thanks to a well solved drawing challenges, the volume is something real and tangible.
