Barcelona's Born is one of the city's most attractive and characteristic neighbourhoods. The tradition of so many centuries of history can be breathed through its old buildings and picturesque streets full of artists, shops of all kinds and lifelong neighbours.

It is a neighbourhood where I wanted to live for a while, and so I did when I became independent. At that time I discovered the magic of each of the corners of the neighbourhood and I was able to absorb the beauty that could be breathed in them. Sometimes it was the small fruits falling from the trees, sometimes it was the way the light bounced off the buildings, the song of a macaw in the morning or the pleasant conversation between two neighbours.

I have visited many, many European cities. And although it is true that Barcelona is the city where I was born and grew up, it is also objectively true that the city is frankly very attractive, with countless corners full of life and beauty in which it has nothing to envy to other cities such as Paris, London or Berlin.

This painting perfectly captures what I feel and see when I walk through this area from time to time. A firm but restrained February sunlight shows us a corner of the neighbourhood in the early morning. Without being a hyper-realistic painting, the balance between light and shadow as well as the balance between the different colour ranges could hardly have been better resolved. Without being pastel, the subtle chromatic distinctions between the painting and reality make it a little more attractive than the corner itself, which would be somewhat more greyish and less colourful as a whole. The people are relaxed, calm. They enjoy being able to walk and talk to other people, or just enjoy the neighbourhood.

    All prints are manufactured and shipped by the company

    Defective or damaged
    products

    If you receive a defective or damaged print or errors in the number or quantity
    of the delivered products, or lack of quality of the delivered product, please contact
    me at miquel.cazanya@gmail.com within 30 days. We will cover the costs of the new order.

    Lost Orders Policy

    For packages lost in transit, please get in touch with me (miquel.cazanya@gmail.com) within 30 days from the estimated delivery date. Gelato will send you a replacement order on your behalf.

    Return Policy
    Returned by Customer

    We currently don't support returns because the products you order are personalized and made specifically for each order. Should you want to submit a new order, you will be liable for the costs of the new order. 

    Returned to Sender Policy

    For these cases, please place a new order and get in touch with me (miquel.cazanya@gmail.com) so that Gelato can report the problem and arrange for the product price to be refunded for the new order. This way, you will only pay again for the shipping of the order. 

    Wrong Address

    If you provide an address considered insufficient by the courier, the shipment
    will be returned and disposed of safely. Should you want to submit a new order with an updated address, you will
    be liable for the costs of the new order.

    Unclaimed

    If you are not able to receive your order at the address, the shipments may be available for pick up at your local post office or carrier pick up point.
    Shipments that go unclaimed may be returned to the sender.

    For these cases, please place a new order and get in touch with us so that we can report the problem and arrange for the product price to be refunded for the new order (you will still have to pay for the shipping costs).

    Why is it Unique?

    • A special atmosphere

      This is not easy to achieve. But this painting has several particularities that make it possible. The respect for the golden proportions in different parts of the painting, the balance between spaces of light and spaces of shadow or the balance between warm and cold colours, with a suggestive and powerful chromatic range.

    • Technically perfect

      Once again, this painting stands out for its excellent drawing. It was not my merit to be born with a great facility for drawing, but it was my merit to train this virtue for years, in such a way that there comes a moment when some apparently complex things can be done as if it were not very difficult. The original was done in oils.

    • The light

      All painters say that the most important thing in their paintings is the light, but in few of them the light is really something decisive. This painting is the light itself; the light that emanates from everywhere and that is reflected in each place in a different way, but gives it a unique and credible sense as in few paintings we can see.
