Miquel Cazaña - Inner Light in Motion

Painting the presence of inner light within space

I have always had an innate talent for drawing and painting. My grandmother, Carmen Gandía, was a remarkable painter of landscapes and seascapes, and since I was a child I was fascinated by the magical possibility of reproducing or reinterpreting the world with my own hands. I have always painted for the immense pleasure of the process itself — the quiet magic of creating something that did not exist before, something that only I can bring into being in this way.

I love emphasizing reality, and at times reinventing it, making visions tangible. This interplay of intuition and expression allows me to connect deeply with life, and in turn my paintings invite the people who live with them to reconnect with the intrinsic magic and energy that we so often forget.

My work explores what I call Inner Light in Motion — the subtle presence of energy, light, and movement within space. Each painting invites the viewer to slow down, engage, and experience the inner rhythm of the work.

Sources of Inspiration

I am inspired by movements such as impressionism, romanticism, surrealism, expressionism, and abstract art. Landscapes, especially in autumn, fill me with life and inner depth. Surreal and romantic elements allow me to create paintings that are solemn, unexpected, and immersive — works that captivate the eye and gradually reveal new emotional layers over time.

My exploration of abstraction, collage, textures, and unconventional materials — from gravel and rusted metal to ropes and mixed media — allows me to continually break my own boundaries and discover new visual languages. Each work becomes a field of experimentation where gesture, material, and intuition interact freely.

I have presented more than 60 solo exhibitions in different cities across Spain, in galleries, cultural foundations, and historical venues.

Living with the artworks

Over the years, more than 200 collectors have invited my paintings into their homes and workspaces. Many first discovered my work because something felt missing in their environment — walls that seemed cold, spaces that felt strangely lifeless. Others approach my work because, like them, I feel a deep resistance toward the emptiness, speculation, and superficiality that often dominate the institutionalized art world. They long for art with soul, presence, and integrity — art that transforms a space, awakens emotion, and resonates on a deeper level.

Through my work, I try to help fill that void. Each painting brings movement, energy, and inner light into a room. Many collectors tell me that the moment a painting enters their home, the atmosphere of the space changes completely — the space feels more alive, more present, more meaningful.

A painting then becomes more than decoration; it becomes a living presence within the space. For me, painting is not simply about covering a wall. It is about revealing Inner Light in Motion — a living force capable of transforming a room and reconnecting us with the deeper beauty and wonder of life.
